Since I was a girl, the most true and honest way I could envision myself was as an artist. I’ve always been inexplicably drawn to creating, the idea of turning thoughts into things, doing something to make the world a more beautiful place. Colors and patterns and art supplies just make me feel happy and at home, and nature is an endless source of inspiration for me. Experiencing something and then recreating it through the lens of my own personal style has always been very gratifying.
Naming my business Ashley Alice (my first and middle name) is my way of honoring my younger self that always wanted to be an artist- it is a tribute to that fun-loving girl that loved rainbows, imaginary worlds, decorating her dollhouse, and drawing on every surface she could find. It is an acknowledgement and nurturing of my inner child that will always be inside me, and the most essential version of myself. It is the name that belongs to only me, and my art work is a unique and singular expression of my own life experience.
We can all benefit from more play, more light in our lives, moving toward the colorful, simple, things that feel warm and inviting to us. I hope my creations evoke this feeling in you!
